Natures Valley Pass to Pass: 19 December 2026

The route
We start on the Eastern Cape side of Bloukrans Pass, just outside Coldstream. From the start you run downhill, descending the pass into the Bloukrans River valley. Pace yourself on this first descent. It’s easy to go out too fast, and your quads will want to save something for the second pass at the end.
You cross the bridge over the Bloukrans River, which is also the Eastern Cape and Western Cape border, and start the climb up the Western Cape side. Your only water point is at the top of Bloukrans Pass on the Western Cape side, around 7km in. From there you follow the road, staying on the edge of the roadside or on the path beside it, before running down Nature’s Valley Pass into Nature’s Valley, where the race finishes.
Race day
- Registration: 7:15 to 8:15 at the start
- Race briefing: 8:15
- Start: 8:30
- Prizegiving: Approximately 11:00
- Cut-off: 11:30 (3 hours)
Getting to the start
Runners meet at the top of the Eastern Cape side of Bloukrans Pass. The pass itself isn’t driveable, so drive through the toll gate and turn towards Coldstream. We do not offer transport to the start or finish venue, so you will need a driver to drop you off. If you would like to carpool, let us know and we will put you in touch with other runners.
Safety
The road is not closed. The Traffic Department is aware of the event, but cars may pass you, so stay vigilant and keep to the edge of the road. There will be marshals throughout the course making sure cars slow down. There will also be marshals and medical support on the day. Please carry your own water, wear sunscreen, and be ready for a warm December morning on the coast.
Entries
Entries are R150 if you enter by 30 November. From 1 December the price goes up to R200, so enter early and secure your spot. Spots are limited!
You will sign an online indemnity when you enter, and again in person at registration. There is no race pack, but we will confirm giveaways closer to the time. The event is self-timed.

About Cape Sport Co and me
I’m Justin Tucker, founder of Cape Sport Co. We are a small events business built around trail running, road running and 7-a-side football. I grew up running in Nature’s Valley and ran this exact route many many times. Running down those passes is a big part of how I fell in love with running, and I always thought it deserved to be a proper race. This is that race.
